Is The Change From Twitter to X Stupid? Yes, Yes It Is…

For a while now, the current owner of Twitter Elon Musk has made many changes to Twitter itself and one of the many changes made to it was the changing of the former title of Twitter to X. The change was made on July 23 2023 and has taken the original look of Twitter with the bird icon and URL of the website out of here. This is one of the few changes that have been made over the course of Elon’s purchase of Twitter ever since. Still, for now, we’ll focus on why this change is terrible in the long run and how you can learn from these big corporations’ mistakes in order for your company to not fall within the same realm of “too much change”.

There are many reasons why such significant changes to a cooperation logo are bad as listed in this website (https://www.makeuseof.com/why-rebranding-twitter-to-x-bad-idea) but to simplify, such a name lacks reason to be there. To give you an idea when you think of tweeting you think of a bird, birds are fast and agile just like the messages you see. Usually, with birds, there will be multiple birds chirping and tweeting almost as if sounding like they are voicing their opinion. As for the name X you don’t think about opinion, it sounds more like a no-no website or an edgy kid’s username for a videogame. For this reason, such a name is futile and holds no meaning to such an opinionative app; it causes the whole reason for the Twitter bird to be removed completely. Another reason why the switch from Twitter to X is awful is the vagueness in meaning. Sure people who follow Elon and his innovations are prone to know what the X truly means but most who use the Twitter app regularly and don’t follow up with Elon see no reason for the change. This can cause long-time and loyal Twitter users to leave the platform as it shows a sign of betrayal towards the website especially with all that Twitter Blue stuff which seems to decrease the popularity of the platform. At the end of the day, we don’t have much of a choice other than to adapt to X regardless of the obnoxious messages, billionaires will be billionaires.

As for what the people think about those who change can agree nonetheless as shown by the results (POLL: How do you feel about Twitter rebranding to ‘X’?) on an Instagram post where several hundred votes were made. Just by looking at this poll, you can begin to see the hatred people had over the change to Twitter especially against younger generations. The fact is that X may not crumble immediately but can almost be guaranteed a loss of newcomers who planned on signing up for the platform which can lead to a loss of income. So, what do we learn from this? Well first off, when dealing with bigger stuff that you can’t take care of shows how much responsibility is required for such a big task. To maintain a good status of a thing whether it is a giant cooperation or something you hold dear,  you must put the passion into owning the thing. It could be the whole value of the company to that phone you carry around because if you don’t follow up with such action you’ll more likely than not break your phone or cause the company loss of money. With all that being said, be sure to care for your stuff and not just throw away money just because “you can”.
