On February 14, 2024, a woman by the name of Gladys Ibanez Olea was arrested due to the human trafficking of Mexican immigrants. The group was made up of 2 women, 2 babies, and one child who had a fake ID to work as a 19-year-old when he was 16. All were forced to pay a debt as payment for bringing them to America. Everything from food to when they sleep was controlled by Olea with locks on the fridge. Olea has alleged to threaten their family from abroad with death threats with close family members. This connects to our community simply because we have a family member who has been involved in human trafficking and it’s most common in migrants.
