The U.S. Supreme Court gave the green light to a major settlement between the Boy Scouts and individuals who alleged they were victims of abuse. Despite disagreement from some former scouts, the court allowed the $2.46 billion agreement to move forward. The Boy Scouts were on the brink of bankruptcy due to mounting abuse claims, leading to a settlement aimed at thousands of survivors in hopes of giving them money to dismiss the issue. While the majority of survivors supported the settlement, some raised concerns that it prevents legal action against people who committed the crime. However, the Supreme Court’s decision clears the way for the settlement. If people can get away with a crime like this with cash, it can affect us as a crime committed toward us can be turned a blind eye with the use of cash.
