Laila Cabrera, a senior at Torres renaissance, mentioned. “College teaches students to become independent having to rely on themselves rather than a teacher or tutor telling them what needs to be done.” This shift towards self-reliance is not just in the sense of preparing students to face different types of challenges, but personal growth. In short, its essential for self-reliance builds independence, fosters personal growth, and prepares students for real-world challenges by teaching ways of taking responsibility for one’s actions and making decisions without being constantly guided. So students learn to manage their time, prioritize the tasks given to them, and find resources for themselves, students are more prepared for the real-world challenges taken up whenever they face it.

Expanding on this, Ms. Marquez, an Visual Art Teacher at Torres renaissance replies. “College really opens you up to new and different people and other ways of thinking. Also, when you are in your major courses, it was really great to meet others like mind thinkers that sometimes become lifelong friends “. This shows that colleges not only introduce its students to diverse perspectives but also makes connections among students with similar interests. Such interaction benefits the learner and can significantly boost personal growth and open up more career opportunities. Additionally, these connections can serve as a support network, providing encouragement and guidance throughout your life.

Ms. Marquez “you will be able to be a part of the growing community of people”, being part of a growing community in college contributes greatly to both your professional and personal development. The true degree college isn’t just in the degree you earn, but in the skills, opportunities, and experiences it provides helping you grow as a person and prepare for the future. Ultimately, the investment in college pays off in ways that last a lifetime.
