On January 24, 2024, a brutal shooting in the Mojave desert between illegal cannabis businesses left 6 dead. The bodies were found around El Mirage, where 5 people were arrested for being involved in the murder of these cases. Though Cannabis is legal and allowed in California it is heavily regulated and people can’t produce cannabis without a license or specific plant size. Many companies struggle to hold on to the business so that is why some people rely on crime to mass-produce and obtain a good business off cannabis alone. These shootings relate to our community’s growing normalization of Cannabis in California and with this may cause future disputes like this shooting near our homes.
